A User Experience Design Consultancy

Delightful & easy-to-use mobile, web, and desktop applications

For retail, high-tech, financial, healthcare, and more

You know the big gap between a great concept and a ready-to-build piece of software?

That's where we come in.

Slide UX was founded to support the software firms and marketers who strive to create mobile and web applications that delight users.

Based in Austin, Texas, we distill complex, messy information and interactions into streamlined and intuitive experiences that don't require help manuals.

We bring a deep understanding of user behavior, a wide set of technological tools, a variety of tactics for gathering requirements and a keen focus on listening – to clients, to users, and to those who understand the users.

Common Contributions

Our user experience design work scales to meet the needs of each clients' project and budget, ranging from video chats and Sharpie sketches to annotated specifications, interactive prototypes, and full-fidelity comps.

With experience and training that blend the best of design, content strategy, and usability, we ask the right questions of your team and your end users. In the end, we plan experiences that delight users and achieve the outcome your organization seeks - all the while making your life a lot easier.

User Stories

Every good digital product is based on an understanding of the user and his pain points. So often, that's exactly where our work begins.

About User Stories

USER Research

Clients call on us to sniff out opportunities, validate usability,  develop surveys, analyze competitors... and solve problems.

About User Research

Wireframes

Whether they're sketched on a whiteboard or fully annotated, our wireframes help teams align on goals, use cases, and user flows.

About Wireframing  ›

USER INTERFACE

It may be just the icing on the cake, but isn't that the best? Our client teams consistently comment on our pixel-perfect attention to detail.

About Visual Design & HTML Markup  ›

RAPID PROTOTYPES

From quick tap-throughs to dynamic, realistic prototypes, our planning makes the products we design easier to test, demo, and build.

About Rapid Prototyping  ›

Axure Coaching

We don't always use Axure, but we've got a lot of history with it. So by popular demand, we sometimes coach, train and help with team project files setup.

About Axure Coaching ›

... and that's not the half of it.

Clients & Experience

Slide UX was founded to support the software teams and marketers who strive to create applications and sites that delight users.  As a team, we have a combined 25 years of experience. With degrees in Business, Marketing, Graphic Design, and Management, we bring the business and communications experience our clients require.

Since our formation in 2012, we’ve designed for clients including UPS, Fidelity, Indeed.com, Charles Schwab, RetailMeNot, CreditCards.com, VMware, Chrysler/Fiat, Alcon, Allstate Insurance, Winn-Dixie/BI-LO, Pervasive Software, SeniorAdvisor.com and Reliant Energy. We’ve consulted with the likes of Microsoft, TripAdvisor, and Google. With backgrounds in software marketing, we excel when working to drive conversions and simplifying complex information.

Agency Partners

We support ad agencies and other UX design firms when they are short on the bandwidth or specialization their clients need. We’re proud to have worked with GSD&M, T3, Theresa Neil Strategy + Design, Projekt202, Expero, Spring Studio, EXTRACTABLE, Smith & Robot, HCB, OnIdeas, 70kft, Mixer Design Group, Clutch Creative, and more.

Rich Backgrounds

Before joining the team at Slide, our designers have served clients including Microsoft/WindowsPhone, the U.S. Dept of Education, JCPenney, Ritz-Carlton, Marriott, ConocoPhillips, David’s Bridal, Chase, MSN, Facebook, Dell, Motorola, BMC Software, Starmount Systems, GolfSmith, The Advisory Board, Solarwinds,TicketCity, Springbox, and KXAN.

Stories to Tell

The hardest part of building any site or application is managing the natural tension between business goals, user needs, and technical considerations. Our experience helping teams to uncover and balance those three things is exactly how we provide value to our clients, and we have a rich library of work samples that demonstrate how we’ve done it.

Let us show you how we've helped teams like yours.

NOTE: The picture above is from the time Erin moderated a panel for the Interaction Design Association, featuring Eric Meyer, Jared Spool, and Aarron Walter. She was (and still is) a bit starstruck.

Meet the Sliders

Erin Lynn Young

PRINCIPAL USER EXPERIENCE ARCHITECT

You know that ominous cloud of ambiguity at the start of a complex interactive project? That’s the part Erin loves. Count on her to dive in, master the subject matter, and provide a tangible, strategic, and user-centered path forward. Teams appreciate her insatiable curiosity and deep expertise in all things UX. Erin often leads research planning, requirements gathering and product strategy.

BrantYoung.png

Brant Young

PARTNER & USER EXPERIENCE ARCHITECT

Seasoned and well-rounded, Brant can take a user story from whiteboards to wireframes and from comps to code. His thorough execution is the stuff of legend. Best of all, he’s a collaborator who never fails to ask teammates and users the questions that need to be asked. Brant often leads prototyping, visual design, and front-end development.

HannaOBrien_25.png

HANNA O'BRIEN

SENIOR PRODUCER

Hanna brings an obsession for organization and a commitment to deliver what we say we will, on time and on budget to all of our projects. She leads the charge with drafting our scopes of work and project schedules and continues her involvement with continuous touch points throughout the lifetime of a project.

TravisSlate.png

Travis Slate

USER INTERFACE DESIGNER

Our resident Android specialist, Travis is also an experienced UX designer and serious UI prototyper. He joined Slide after a few years as Director of User Experience at Rocksauce Studios, an Austin-based mobile apps firm. He tried his hand at being a painter in NYC before earning his BFA in Graphic and Interactive Communications at Ringling College of Art and Design.

Megan Smith

Associate user experience designer

Megan’s sponge-like curiosity, creativity, and attention to detail made her a valuable member of our team. Megan often contributes to competitive analysis, deep-dive best practice research, user recruiting, and documentation fulfillment. That’s, of course, when she’s not busy coordinating our next social or charitable event!

... and on top of it all, we're generally pretty easy to get along with.
